Samsung reveals devices to get Jelly Bean update

Just a few hours ago, the Jelly Bean update has been released to Samsung Galaxy S III devices from the markets outside Eastern Europe. Following the gradual release of regions, Samsung has released a list of devices compatible to update to the Android 4.1 a.k.a. Jelly Bean. However, Samsung has not revealed any specific timeline for the updates, only saying that the update is "coming soon."

These are the devices slated for the update:

  • Galaxy Tab 2 7.0
  • Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
  • Galaxy Note 10.1
  • Galaxy S II
  • Galaxy Note
  • Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus
  • Galaxy S Advance
  • Galaxy S II LTE
  • Galaxy Music
  • Galaxy Chat
  • Galaxy Ace 2
  • Galaxy Beam
  • Galaxy Ace Plus
  • Galaxy Mini II
  • Galaxy S DUOS

Apart from benefiting from Google's Project Butter, these devices will also receive an update to their custom Samsung TouchWiz modifications.

New features from the new TouchWiz include:
"the ability to adjust the size of the “Pop Up Play” floating video window, as well as pause video capture – and then resume it as part of the same clip – in the camcorder. There’s a new Easy Mode which puts certain frequently-accessed features, such as favorite contacts, into resizable widgets on the homescreen, and more control over incoming calls and other notifications." Samsung also warned that unlocked devices will get their updates much faster than those who are locked or sourced from carriers.
